Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy

This policy covers all employees employed by Super Good Group (“the Company”), whether on a temporary or ongoing basis.
The purpose of this policy is to set out the Company’s approach to nurturing good mental health and wellbeing within the workplace and invites employees to foster a positive dialogue of feedback with the Company on developing this policy to ensure the Company is as supportive as possible.
Not only does mental health and wellbeing affect quality of life, but also within the workplace, poor mental health and wellbeing can adversely impact absenteeism, productivity, and retention.
The Company is committed to providing a safe and harmonious workplace that supports and empowers employees to protect and nurture their own mental health and wellbeing, as well as the mental health and wellbeing of those around them.
The Company acknowledges that most people at some point in their life will experience mental health issues, either directly themselves, or in respect of a member of their family or close friend. Different employees’ mental health may need to be supported differently, depending on several factors, and the Company encourages anyone who is struggling with their own mental health to seek professional help (e.g. from a doctor or other medical professional).
In so far as this policy imposes any obligations on the Company, those obligations are not contractual and do not give rise to any contractual rights. To the extent that this policy describes benefits and entitlements for employees, they are discretionary in nature and are also not intended to be contractual. The terms and conditions of employment that are intended to be contractual are set out an employee’s written employment contract.
The Company may unilaterally introduce, vary, remove or replace this policy at any time.
MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others and make choices. Good mental health might involve general feelings of positivity and being able to cope with daily tasks, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, poor mental health might involve a mental health condition such as depression or anxiety.
Employees should be aware of how their words and actions might make others feel as how we communicate and treat others can impact an individual’s mental health. Bullying, harassment, discrimination and other isolating or exclusive behaviour will not be tolerated given their likely impact on an individual’s mental health and safety.
WELLBEING
Wellbeing is a broader term than mental health includes an individual’s overall physical, emotional, and mental health; however, it can also refer to an individual’s state of happiness and the sense of having a “meaningful” life. Every employee has an obligation to take responsibility for not only their own wellbeing, but also for assisting with creating and maintaining a resilient and supportive workplace environment.
THE COMPANY’S APPROACH TO MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING
The Company understands an employee’s mental health and wellbeing can be an incredibly personal and complex subject to address. Employees are encouraged to speak openly about any mental health or wellbeing issues they are facing with their manager or other colleagues. Employees who feel they are unable to reach out to colleagues or management to discuss any concerns they are having are encouraged to utilise personal networks or other resources outlined in this policy.
